Casco Aniguo Spanish School student enjoy a picnic at the 2013 Panama Jazz Festival in Panama City

It’s time again for The Panama Jazz Festival! The festival happens every year in January (this year January 14-19) and is an excellent excuse to visit to Panama City. There are concerts, workshops, jam sessions, and music therapy events held throughout the week. It’s the best time of year to listen to Jazz in Panama as shows are held all week, culminating in a large free outdoor concert where many of the stars who played during the week come together to jam. It an amazing way to spend a Saturday, listening to great music, eating delicious local food, and drinking cold Panamanian Beer!

The 2013 Panama Jazz Festival Line Up included Herbie Hancock, Susana Baca, Bill Frisell, Wayne Shorter Quartet, Danilo Perez, and salsa great (and Casco Viejo resident) Ruben Blades. This year Casco Antiguo Spanish School went with several of our students to the closing concert in the City of Knowledge, just 15 minutes away from Casco Viejo. The concert started in the afternoon and went well into the night. It was an amazing event and we were so excited to be able to share it with our students here at Casco Antiguo Spanish School. Hope to see you all there next year!
