Living and working in Casco Viejo, I am on a constant search for good food that matches my everyday lunch budget. Le Petite Bretagne serves an extensive menu of sweet and savory crepes, and the $5,90 deal that includes a crepe of the day combined with a choice of either a smoothie, a soft drink or a desert offers a delicious, healthy (the buckwheat crepe is low in calories and does not contain any gluten) and filling lunch option. The creperie opened earlier this year and provides authentic cuisine from Brittany combined with contemporary influences from all over the world. The daily changing menus offer delicious lunch deals that surely will make you want to come back for more. Last time I went on a Tuesday, which daily special consists of a crepe that reflects the traditional cuisine of Brittany. Therefore, ‘la crepe del dia’ was filled with cooked ham, hearty cheddar cheese and egg which I combied with a yummy Banana-Guava smoothie. The Wednesday menu is inspired by typical Panamanian delicacies. Thursday is crepe ‘del mundo’-day, one can be prepared for a creative crepes with fillings from different cuisines such as Mexican chili con carne or Italian pizza crepe. Friday is all about fish and seafood, make sure to try the crepe almejas y espinacas (Seafood and Spinach). The La Petite Bretagne successfully reinvented the French delicacy and took it to another level and has found its niche in the gourmet eateries around Casco Viejo. The creperie can be found on Avenida Central on the corner to Calle 11, opening hours Tuesday to Friday (12-3pm and 6:30-10pm) and Saturday (11am-10pm) and Sunday (11am-3pm).
