The Parque Natural Metropolitano or MNP is located in Panama City, Ancon district, between Ascanio Villalaz Av., Amistad Road and the Curundu River. The Parque Natural Metropolitano is the only protected area in Central America located within city boundaries. The MNP is one of the few tropical dry forests on the Pacific Coast in Central America. Covering 232 hectares it is also one of the largest parks and is  home to 284 species of trees, 45 species of mammals, 254 species of birds, reptiles and amphibians. Parque Natural Metropolitano provides drinking water for Panama, Colon and Chorrera.
