This week we has the pleasure of meeting a wonderful woman named Magin. Magin has a Masters Degree in Art and was looking for volunteer opportunities and ways to practice the Spanish she was learning while traveling. Magin took a week of Intensive Spanish Classes here in Panama at the Casco Antiguo Spanish School and we introduced her to the people at Aprojusan. Aprojusan is an organization dedicated to providing aid to families in need. Normally, Aprojusan runs an after school program that provides kids with a safe place, structured activities and adult guidance. Magin developed two different half-day art projects which about 20 children participated in.
Today Magin practiced all the Spanish she’s been learning in Panama by introducing the kids to nature. Magin and the kids talked about the different types of plants that grow here in Santa Familia and then she provided supplies for the kids to paint! The result was 20 unique and colorful painting which will be displayed in the classrooms.

Volunteering with kids is a wonderful way to practice Spanish in Panama. We are currently partnered with 4 different organizations to provide an array of volunteer opportunities. We are dedicated to giving back to Casco Viejo and we are so glad to have met Magin and so pleased that she was generous enough to donate the supplies and her time to help children in need.
