Panama Canal Rainforests – Just 30 minutes from Panama City the Canal Rainforest are most accessible rainforests in the world.  Compromising more than 50,000 acres and home to 105 species of mammals, 525 species of birds and 124 species of reptiles and amphibians. The close proximity to the city makes them very convienient to visit and there are many local hotel and tour companies that provide transportation to and from the jungle.

Panama City – Full and rich with historic ruins, Panama Viejo and the 17th century Casco Viejo section of the city are must-sees for those who want to explore the spectacular history and traditions of Panama from its impressive pre-Colonial Indian cultures to its time as one of the crossroads of the Spanish empire, making it a prime target of history’s most famous pirates. The world-famous Panama Canal is only about 40 minutes from downtown Panama and the Miraflores Locks provide the perfect viewing area. Don’t be fooled though, this city is a bustling metropolis filled with skyscrapers and glamorous restaurants.

Pacific Coast Beaches – Panama City had numerous beautiful Pacific coast beaches all within a hour drive of the city. The perfect weekend or day retreat you can enjoy white sandy beaches and all they have to offer.  A few favourites are Punta Chame, Gorgona, Coronado, Rio Mar, Santa Clara and Playa Blanca.

El Valle de Anton – Located in the crater of a long dormant volcano and a quick two hour drive from Panama city this charming mountainous town is sure to win over the hearts of ever visitor. Hot springs, waterfalls and hiking trails attract tourist and Panamanians alike. The local orchid refuge is home to more than 100 native species of orchids.

San Blas Islands – An archipelago of over 350 islands inhabited by the indigenous Kuna Indians. Picture a screen saver, crystal clear

blue waters, white sandy beaches and palm trees. Rustic in nature most islands are without electricity and running water. You can often purchase fresh caught lobster from a fisherman in a dugout canoe for about $1.

Bocas del Toro – A small cluster of nine islands near the boarder of Costa Rica is home to some of the best Scuba Diving in all of Panama. They crystal clear Caribbean waters and and relaxed island atmosphere make Bocas a favourite vacation spot. Red Frog beach is famous for, you guessed it, the elusive Red Frog and the namesake Starfish beach is another favourite.
