There’s so much to see and explore in Casco Viejo, Panama City. Without a doubt, Panama City’s old town is the best place in the city to get lost and simply wander around. Full of hidden gems, the city’s most beloved neighbourhood – and home of Casco Antiguo Spanish School – Casco Viejo has something for everyone. After exploring its narrow streets, churches, boutique shops, squares and museums, get ready for your caffeine fix: this famed district is blessed with lots of cosy places to get you started.

Here are a  few of our favourite coffee shops in Casco Viejo, Panama City.

1. Nomada Eatery

Nomada is right next door to Panama City old town institution, Luna’s Castle (one of the most famous hostels in Casco Viejo), and therefore a hub for tourists and travellers alike. Nomada feels very hip, largely due to the funky art dazzlingly on display. From literature books glued to the bathroom walls, to a painting of a sequin hat-wearing skull, Nomada’s décor will inspire you. The menu includes a fantastic breakfast and the lunch of the day is always sizeable, varied and good value at $7.

 2. Benissimo

Benissimo’s enchanting building just beckons you to enter when walking through Casco Antiguo’s fabled cobbled streets. Once inside, you are greeted by a plethora of tantalising gelato flavours and the scent of warm waffles and fresh coffee. We dare you to resist.

3. Bajareque Coffee House

Coffee lovers will be pleased to try Bajareque’s Panamanian coffee blends, worthy of winning the Panama Brewers Cup for 2017.

4. Casa Sucre

Casa Sucre opened up in Panama City’s Casco Viejo over four years ago, and has established itself as one of the best (and coziest) coffee shops in the area. It also happens to be attached to a Boutique Hotel, so if you find its home comforts as inviting as we do, and don’t quite feel like leaving, checking in upstairs is a promising possibility.

5. Tiempos

Tiempos is a delightful coffee shop within The American Trade Hotel in Casco Viejo. Their fine brews, great service and impeccable Wi-Fi attract remote workers and people looking to while away the day blissfully.
